It All Began
with a Two-Pole Tent!

With Seating for 3000, the first gathering of the Thousand Island Camp Meeting Association was dedicated on July 21, 1875.

Only five cottages had been built that first summer. Most people stayed in family tents. By 1877, it was reported that over 500 tents filled the Park.

The first hotel opened in 1883 & burned in 1890.

The Columbian replaced it by 1892 and burned in 1912 -- taking almost half the Park with it.
